Well, while there is definitely a lot of harsh truth in this video, I do believe that there is still a lot that computers simply can't do (and arguably never will, at least not in their current form of useful and complex, but still very limited, calculators). The first thing that comes to mind is self-driving cars: even after well more than a decade of intense research, the human is still a necessary part of the driving system. What's more, many companies have quietly given up on this idea and stopped developing it further. So yes, there is a lot of automation going on, but for truly intellectual work and for jobs that are tightly interwoven with messy physics, we are still a long long way from teaching a computer how to replace us. Also AI and machine learning are advertised and published as capable of a lot more than they really are. Sure, the algorithms can reccommend stuff etc. but making decisions is a truly hard problem that any of the cognitive sciences has yet to crack, let alone model and implement in a computer.
Fuck jobs anyway, we just need to properly tax these companies and create a universal basic income.

WAIT A SEC!!! You are presenting everithing in a horrible way like it will destroy our lives and what not. Lets consider something else. Machines take away most of our jobs, but still get things done. Therefore the economy is still working but there is a lower need for work therefore lower working hours for higher wages. Let's not forget that since there is history the world and humans are evolving and adapting to their surroundings. This means we will develop new social systems in order to adapt to the fast technological advancments. In the end what is most likely to happen is a reduction in working hours and the possibility to not have a jon but still manage to live at a very basic standard that will be considered the lowest standard. Only people with jobs will be able to live above this standard and actually make money and the ones that do not have jobs will have all the free time to specialize in whatever interests them and get a job in the certain area. People will have much more choise over what direction they want their lives to go and yes mostly the manufacturers of robots will be making money wich is completely understandable since they will be the ones doing the most work. This will also allow artists and culture to thrive because when you are able to live without thinking about jobs you can focus on creating art without the concert of not being able to make money out of it. People would generally have more time to develop themselves in the way they want. This however will be really hard to achieve and before it is possible it will throw the world into huge chaos and huge separation between lower and upper class. In order to prevent this we need to adapt by the day and actually for once try to place our moral systems and the concept of working together, as our main drive rather than competition. I believe this to be an interesting concept to look at and would be great if it is considered for another video analysing the future of technology and how it can actually solve our problems, rather than increasing them.

The place I work has been collecting vast amounts of data for decades. I’m glad I’m going to be a Nurse. While technically it could be a robot giving medications or an A.I diagnosing patients, a human is required for the human element. Having a therapeutic person treating you is very beneficial compared to being treated by a robot or computer. Will there be a robot that can go fly in a helicopter and treat a burn victim in the backcountry? I doubt it’ll happen for decades.
